The goal
The aim of the Foundation is to improve the quality of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in Tanzania and to make it available for more people.
Our vision
This goal can best be achieved by improving the self-sufficiency of the Tanzanian Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and by adapting to the local environment. More Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons need to be trained locally. To achieve this, we seek support from the Tanzanian government and the board of the individual hospitals.
Current Status
The department at Muhimbili National Hospital in Dar es Salaam has now been refurbished and additional Oral- and Maxillofacial surgeons are being trained. By using the clinic in Dar es Salaam as our basis, the foundation wants to continue her efforts by sharing the knowledge and experience with the three regional hospitals (Bugando Medical Centre in Mwanza, Kilimanjaro Christian Medical Centre near Arusha and Mbeya Referral Hospital in Mbeya) to enhance the availability of proper care for all patients in Tanzania. The colleagues in Dar es Salaam are most qualified to make the necessary arrangements and with the local authorities to expand the OMFS service.
We aim to assist in the establishment of at least one additional clinic in one of the three regional hospitals before 2013.
